Glatting's Employees Outfit Kitchens for 35 Families in Need
By Kelly Morphy

Glatting employees recently collected enough new kitchen appliances and supplies to equip as many as 35 kitchens for families in need in Central Florida.

The employee-organized kitchen drive, themed “Help put the heart back in the home,” benefited The Mustard Seed Furniture and Clothing Bank of Central Florida. The non-profit provides household goods, clothing and supplies free-of-charge to families trying to rebuild their lives and become self-sufficient.

Tim Jackson who accompanied employees to deliver the donated items commented, “This effort is important because every single one of us, at some point, has needed help. The world goes around because those of us in a position to provide help do so,” Jackson said.

The drive collected nearly $1,600 in cash donations, 31 boxes of gently used clothing and kitchen accessories, as well as the following new, unopened items:

  • 31 coffee makers
  • 35 toasters
  • 36 sets of diningware
  • 35 sets of cookware
  • 27 sets of kitchen towels and linens
  • Silverware, glasses, cutlery, can openers and mixers

“The mission of the Mustard Seed would never be met if it weren’t for the support of community partners like Glatting Jackson’s employees,” said Sharon Whitley, chief operating officer of The Mustard Seed. “Every day at our warehouse, we see the gratitude of families who are amazed by the quality of the items provided to them free of charge, and it simply couldn’t happen without the generosity of the community.
