The Green Mountain Scenic Byway is dedicated to promoting the beauty and character of the CR 455 and Old SR 50 corridor. The process of designating CR 455 and Old SR 50 as a scenic highway was determinedly pursued over many years by a group of dedicated citizens, local government representatives, and community activists. In July of 2002, the Green Mountain Scenic Byway received eligibility status by the Florida Department of Transportation for designation as a Florida Scenic Highway. The Corridor Advocacy Group continued to work over the following two years to develop the Corridor Management Plan, which provides a framework for achieving the Corridor Vision and Goals. The roadway was designated a Florida Scenic Highway in 2004. Since designation, the Corridor Management Entity (CME) has worked tirelessly with local municipalities, activist groups and developers to preserve the unique historic, archeological, recreational, natural, and scenic resources located along the Scenic Highway.

Who is Part of the Corridor Management Entity?
Currently, the CME is comprised of representatives from the Town of Montverde, Town of Oakland, Winter Garden, Ferndale, Lake County, Orange County, Friends of Lake Apopka, and the Florida Department of Transportation. Elected officials, citizen activists, and local residents sit on the CME. Anyone interested in supporting the Vision and Goals of the Green Mountain Scenic Byway is welcome to join. If you are interested in joining, please contact Greg Gensheimer, the CME Vice-Chair at Greg.Gensheimer@Invesmart.com.
