The Town of Montverde is developing a preliminary engineering and environmental analysis along CR 455 from the southern town limits to Fosgate Road and CR 455. The Town is focused on addressing safety and traffic concerns within the town, bicycle and pedestrian circulation through the town, drainage concerns, and reconfiguration of the downtown area to support development in the town center.

Concurrent with this effort, the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council is working in coordination with the Green Mountain Scenic Byway Corridor Management Entity, a citizen-led group, to develop a Master Plan for the Green Mountain Scenic Byway. The Master Plan will address transportation analysis and design, multi-use trail design, signage and wayfinding, and land development along 15.7 miles of CR 455, CR Old Highway 50, CR 438, and Oakland Avenue, from Avalon Road to Howey Crossroads (the intersection of Lake County Roads 455 and 561).

Study Area

What Will the Study Include?
The Corridor Master Plan will include recommendations on roadway enhancements and regulatory measures that translate the Vision expressed in the Corridor Management Plan into reality. Corridor enhancements, such as minor roadway modifications, landscaping, multi-use trails, signage, and design requirements, will function as a system to provide access and mobility by all modes of travel and provide a consistent interpretive vocabulary that educates the travel of the area.

The Town of Montverde will address short-term strategies to improve safety and mobility and achieve a walkable and bicycle friendly community. Traffic operations improvements such as intersection and minor roadway widening, improved signage, improved lighting, and geometric and signalization improvements will be evaluated. Bicycle and pedestrian improvements, with an emphasis on school safety, will be developed. The downtown area in the vicinity of Lakeside Avenue and Park Avenue are of special concern.

How Can You Participate?
This is a citizen-led effort which benefits from the involvement of all the residents, land owners, bicyclists, and preservation groups that have interests along the corridor. We welcome your involvement in our public meetings. We will be posting draft information to this web site as it becomes available. You are also invited to contact Patty Hurd with Glatting Jackson at 407-843-6552 to share your insights.
